About Holly

Music therapist, hypnotherapist, and lifelong lover of sound

My love of music
started before I could walk.

Quite deaf as a baby, I'd listen to my mum playing the piano and singing to me—and apparently, I drove my parents to distraction by playing the same nursery rhyme tape on repeat, over and over, until they could probably recite it in their sleep.

That early fascination never left me.

I went on to play violin, viola, and piano, performing with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain as a teenager and taking part in Pro Corda chamber music courses. Music wasn't just something I did—it was how I understood the world.

I trained at the
Royal Northern College of Music,

where I gained my music degree, before completing my Diploma in Music Therapy at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I'm a qualified neurologic music therapist, and over the past 24 years I've worked with children, young people, and adults across mainstream and special needs education, hospital and neuro-rehabilitation settings, and adoption support services. Alongside clinical work, I've published research, written for the field, and presented at international conferences on music therapy work.

I set up and ran my own business for several years providing award winning interactive live music classes for children aged 0-5. In 2025 I made the decision to sell the business and train in Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. It might seem like an unexpected turn, but the two disciplines complement each other beautifully: where music therapy reaches people through sound, rhythm, and creative expression, solution focused hypnotherapy reaches the same calming, regulating part of the brain through guided relaxation and focused, future-oriented thinking—giving me two powerful, evidence-based ways to help you feel calmer, more confident, and more like yourself again.
